Hi everybody, this is a very usefull post!!

As you know, a METAR is a
very important information for you flight, so it's very important to
understand and decode it How to decode a METAR??? 551947

By example :
a:20015KT b:5000 (...clouds and visibility etc...) c:05/M01 d:Q1012
a: Wind from 200° for 15kt
b: Visibility 5 000 meters
c: Temperature / Dewpoint: +5°/-1°
d: QNH 1012 (Barometric pression)

Below this, there are some usefull MTO Code...

VISIBILITY
BR = Mist ( visibility > 1km )
CAVOK = Ceiling And Visibility OK ( visibility >10km, no cloud, no precipitations )
CLR = Clear
FG = Fog (Visibility < 1 Km)
RVR = Runway Visual Range ( if visibility < 1 500 m )
VV = Vertical Visibility ( if the sky isvisible )
4 numbers = Horizontal visibility

PRECIPITATIONS

DZ = Drizzle
FZxx = Freezing
GR = Hail
GS = Soft Hail
PE = Pellet
RA = Rain
SG = Snow
SH = Shower
SN = Snow
SQ = Squall

CLOUDS
NSC = No Significant Cloud below 1 500 Meters
SKC = Sky clear ( not available if CAVOK )
FEWxxx = Fewer at xxxft ( as level )
SCTxxx = Scattered at xxxft ( as level )
BKNxxx = Brokenat at xxxft ( as level )
OVCxxx = Overcast at xxxft ( as level )
AC = Altocumulus
AS = Altostratus
CB = Cumulonimbus
CI = Cirrus
CU = Cumulus
NS = Nimbostratus
SC = Strato-cumulus
ST = Stratus
TCU = Tower cumulus
BCxx = Bank Banc
EMBD = Embeded
LSQ = Line squall
LYR = in layer
MI = Shallow
OBSC = Obscure (clouds)

WIND/TEMPERATURE/PRESSURE
CAT = Clear Air Turbulence
Gxx = Gust (if > 10kt) x = wind speed
Mxx = Minus xx (Temperature ex : -2°C)
Qxxxx = QNH (Pressure at sea level) x = pressure in Hpa
TS = Thunder storm
TURB = Turbulence
VRB = Wind Variable
WS = Wind shear

TIME EVOLUTION
BECMG = Becoming
FM xx = From
FRQ xx = Frequent
GRADU xx = Gradually
INTER = Intermittent
NOSIG = No Significant change in the following 2 hours
NSW = No Significant Weather
OCNL = Occasionnaly
PROBxx = Probability xx%
CRAPID = Rapidly
RExx = Recent (ex RERA: recent rain )
STNR = Stationnary
TEMPO xx = Temporary
TEND = Tendancy
TL xx = Till

Here we have, Nice day!!
